Lightera Launches Micro Connect 1310 Fiber Suite for Co-Packaged Optics, Featuring New 80/125 Bend-Insensitive SMF and PMF
The
new fibers round out Lightera’s CPO fiber portfolio by adding 80 µm cladding
options alongside existing 125 µm class solutions, giving device and system
designers greater flexibility to optimize packaging density, routing, and
alignment in next-generation optical engines and switch architectures.
The
Micro Connect 1310 fibers are optimized for 1310 nm O-band operation, balancing
higher-order mode suppression and very low bend loss to maintain signal
fidelity in tight routing environments. While primarily designed for
co-packaged optics, the fibers are also well suited for compact O-band
pluggables and miniaturized photonic devices.
To
support high-density attach schemes, the coating diameter is set at 125 µm,
enabling compatibility with 127 µm pitch devices while avoiding the complexity
of interleaving fibers in dense arrays.
“Co-packaged
optics platforms push fiber performance and dimensional control to a new
level,” said Rasmus Jensen, Product Market Manager, Specialty, Global Marketing
& Sales, Lightera. “With our new Micro Connect 1310 80/125 SMF and PMF, we
are delivering fibers specifically optimized for O-band CPO environments —
combining tight bend performance, modal control, and array-friendly geometry.
This launch complements our CPO fiber suite and gives customers both 80 µm and
125 µm cladding options to match their integration strategy.”
Key
features include:
- O-band optimization for CPO and
short-reach high-speed links
- Low bend loss for tight routing
environments
- Higher-order mode suppression for
improved signal integrity
- Available in SMF and PMF variants
- 125 µm coating diameter for 127 µm
pitch compatibility
- Designed for high-density fiber
attach arrays and compact modules
Micro Connect 1310 80/125 SMF and PMF fibers are available for customer
qualification.
