Riello UPS Multi Power2: Scalability and Efficiency for Data Centers
Multi Power2
In medium and large data centers, where operational demands are constantly increasing, ensuring a continuous, stable, and high-quality power supply is essential. At the same time, the focus on sustainability requires solutions capable of significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

To meet these challenges, Riello UPS has developed Multi Power2: modular, compact, and highly flexible UPS systems designed to provide maximum reliability and optimal performance. Multi Power2 optimizes power delivery, reduces operational costs, and limits cooling requirements, supporting both operational continuity and energy efficiency in data centers.

The Multi Power2 range is available in configurations from 300 to 600 kW and, in the Scalable (M2S) version, from 1000 to 1600 kW, highlighting its ability to adapt to the load variations typical of modern data centers. This also supports “pay-as-you-grow” strategies, lowering initial investment and total cost of ownership (TCO).

The architecture of the entire UPS system and its individual power modules is the result of Riello UPS’s innovative Smart Modular Architecture (SMA), which represents a new design approach based on deep integration between hardware and software. This creates an extremely responsive system that guarantees business continuity under any operating condition.

The 67 kW power modules, called “BLUE”, are based on advanced silicon carbide (SiC) technology and achieve efficiency levels of up to 98.1% in ON LINE mode.

In the scalable version, Multi Power2 systems can be assembled in two different frames to meet space, redundancy, and load growth requirements: the first, more compact frame can host up to eight modules, while the second can accommodate up to 30 modules.

To ensure overall reliability, all modules are fully independent, hot-swappable, mechanically isolated, and equipped with selective input and output disconnection devices. The modular bypass, sized according to the system’s maximum power, allows for the elimination of higher short-circuit currents.

Finally, a look at the significant benefits of Multi Power2 systems: compared to a medium-efficiency UPS (96%) operating at 50% load, a 1250 kW M2S system with BLUE modules can achieve annual energy cost savings of approximately €30,000 (calculated at €0.2/kWh) and a reduction of around 45 tons of CO₂ emissions.
