Energy Audits for Data Centres
With over 30 years of experience, ENEL PS has developed deep expertise in energy performance assessment — including the specific technical and operational requirements of data centre infrastructure. Drawing on this knowledge, we are fully capable of conducting energy audits in accordance with EN 50600.
Energy audits represent an important step towards the systematic improvement of energy efficiency (EE) in data centres. Under the EED, energy audits are required to be completed by 2026.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite all data centres to undergo an energy audit, regardless of their annual energy consumption. An energy audit is not a one-time exercise — it is repeated periodically when new energy efficiency measures need to be defined, including projected savings from the implementation of EE measures, required investment, and expected payback periods.
In addition to being a legal obligation, energy audits provide a clear overview of current energy consumption, identify potential for energy savings and CO₂ reduction, and establish a solid foundation for the implementation of an ISO 50001 energy management system.
From 2027 onwards, energy management systems must be established for large consumers with annual energy consumption above 85 TJ (23.6 GWh).
If you need support in preparing an energy audit or identifying measures to improve energy efficiency, we are at your disposal.
