Lights, Camera, Innovation: Frankfurt International School at Tech Show Frankfurt 2026
At Tech Show Frankfurt 2026, we partnered with Frankfurt International School (FIS) to give students the opportunity to experience the technology industry beyond the classroom.
As part of the collaboration, the FIS Media Team joined us at Messe Frankfurt, capturing moments from across the show, interviewing industry professionals and experiencing first-hand the technologies and conversations shaping the industry.
Their experience was featured in the June 2026 edition of FIS World Magazine, sharing both an educator’s and a student’s perspective on Tech Show Frankfurt.

Part I: The Educator's Experience
Our mission at FIS is to provide an “Extraordinary Education in a World of Opportunities,” and our FIS Media Team’s recent trip to Tech Show Frankfurt was that mission in action. The Tech Show is a massive B2B technology conference that brings together thousands of IT professionals, business leaders, and innovators at the Messe Frankfurt, and our students’ participation at the event was a fantastic example of how our International Baccalaureate (IB) framework extends far beyond the classroom, connecting real-world learning with the future of innovation.
The highlight of the event was witnessing the incredible work of our Upper School media students. These students are the force behind our school’s live-streamed sports matches, school event recordings, and graduation broadcasts. Through the media club, they are learning to master professional-grade tools, including advanced live-streaming setups, complex soundboards, and high-end cameras. Along with the technical skills they are gaining, they are also developing crucial soft skills such as communication, script creation, event planning, and time management.
While the club is primarily a hobby for our students, they were officially “hired” to capture the energy and insights of the Tech Show. Armed with all of their gear, they navigated through the exhibition halls, filming B-roll and approaching industry experts for interviews.
A few of my favorite moments during the conference involved some of the quietest voices. I first observed a Middle School student who, as one of our presenters, approached industry leaders to ask deep, insightful questions about their work, completely unfazed by being the youngest person in the room. Then I watched as two students – newer members without “lead” roles – engaged deeply in capturing moments and learning more about the equipment being used. Both examples show that you do not need to be the loudest or most experienced voice to make an impact; being willing to try something new showcases how we support independent, inquisitive learners at FIS.
The Tech Show experience allowed our students to connect their growing media skills with a real-world application, while also showing how our teams actively support our school community by connecting industry and education. I had the privilege of hosting a panel discussion featuring an inspiring lineup of women in technology. While it was inspiring to hear about their groundbreaking work in STEM, the most impactful part was seeing our students in the audience and then watching as they excitedly asked questions of the presenters afterward.
Listening to the panel allowed our students to hear firsthand about the human-centered skills vital for the future of work: the ability to communicate complex ideas, think critically in tough situations, and be risk-takers who are willing to try something new – exactly the kinds of real-world traits their overall Tech Show experience delivered.

Part II: The Students Experience
In today’s world, technology has become an inseparable part of everyone’s life. The rapidly transforming digital landscape has brought opportunities as well as challenges. In May, I was able to gain a unique insight into many of those transformations by attending one of Europe’s biggest technology trade fairs, the Tech Show Frankfurt, as a member of the FIS Media Team.
Full of excitement and energy, our team stepped into the Messe with professional equipment, and interview questions, proudly introducing ourselves as the Tech Show Media Team from Frankfurt International School. The exhibition halls were filled with people and booths, and we visited them one by one. From interacting with different exhibitors, I learned that people came from all around the globe to build partnerships and explore opportunities. There were companies introducing their new heat reuse systems, or data engineers communicating about trust in innovation and AI.
I had a wonderful time meeting people, asking questions and listening to different ideas.
Although being a business leader sharing practical knowledge might still seem like a long way off for many students, our team demonstrated our ability to interact, reflect, and communicate with professionals from different industries. Through a day of filming, interviewing, photography, and editing, we explored technology from different angles, made connections with new people, and had an insightful experience.
Our team worked in different roles throughout the day. Some acted as anchors and interviewers visiting different stands and meeting different people, while others were photographers capturing these moments. Our editors compiled all the videos and photos together. As one of the interviewers at the show, I had a wonderful time meeting people, asking questions and listening to different ideas. But I also never thought that a camera could be so heavy, or that finding a person to interview would be so difficult! Still, the experience was incredibly rewarding.
One of the highlights for me was watching our advisor Ms. Bryant speak on a panel about how she was empowered by tech. Visitors engaged in interactive discussions while students observed the innovation and future of digital infrastructure.
Throughout this experience, our media team collaborated, took risks, and connected with creativity to see what technology is and what it could be in the future. It was a fruitful experience that will continue to inspire us beyond the show itself.

Connecting the next generation with the tech industry
For us at Tech Show Frankfurt, the collaboration with Frankfurt International School was a great opportunity to connect the next generation with the tech community and give students first-hand insight into the people, ideas and innovations shaping the industry. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that bring education and industry closer together.
